Thought I’d make sure you are all aware that the recently stocked crucians are  now being caught regularly in the bottom pond. A number of anglers have enjoyed catching them over the last few weeks in addition to the tench that were stocked last year. Now the very hot weather seems to have left us I hope more of you will have the chance to get up there.  Favourite bait seems to be a couple of red maggots. I’ve attached a photo of the typical size being caught.  They are lovely fish and put up a good fight. I had just a couple of hours yesterday morning and was kept busy all the time with 5 crucians, 5 tench,  plenty of decent size roach and rudd and lost plenty more fish. Having said that someone picked up the same mix of fish earlier today with 17crucians, 5 tench including 2 heavier ones and plenty of roach ,and rudd.

Good luck

PS – If there are any more intending to come to the 30th August work party and haven’t let me know yet please do so in the next few days.

Hello fellow members. Please be aware that there has been a change to the starting time of the Annual Match on the 14th September, bringing the start time forward by 1 hour to 9:15 for the draw. See the 2025-2026 Season page for full details. The ponds continue to fish well and I’m posting a picture of another top pond tench. Tight lines everyone. All the best…. Tim

There’s been a few things going on with an evening match and ground works, but most of all I’m happy to say the fishing has been good, it could be the weather. Anyway see my update in the Reporting Your Catch section of this site. I thought I’d just share with you an image of a member at the match with his lucky mascot. Tight Lines… Tim

Season Permits – For those members who have paid and haven’t received their permits personally I’ll be posting (2nd class) the remainder in tomorrow morning’s collection. Please have your season permit and picture ID with you when fishing and display the current car park permit in your vehicle. Should you need them I have included 2 guest tickets with your permits. There will be more in the catch return box. You can include any revenue from these with next year’s subscription.

If you haven’t received by the 13th May please contact me. Thanks Steve.

Hi all just a further update on the Fish Refuges. A group of members met today to assemble and install more refuges in the bottom pond. Again these have been marked with small yellow floats.

Couple of bits of info for you all.

Next time you are at Hassop please take note there are a number of fish refuges in the top pond. All have been marked with a small yellow polystyrene buoy and a number are sited in shallow water either side of fishing pegs. Hopefully they will attract fish to the area and provide a safe area from predators.  Naturally anglers will be hoping to benefit from that but please allow sufficient room to avoid getting caught up on them. Each of the refuges are  roughly a metre cube size.

For the time being only one has been placed in the bottom pond. When time permits more will be added down there.

I’ve had 2 or 3 recent reports of a cormorant or goosander visiting the ponds. Please make sure you let me know or record in the catch book if you see anything.
